A week-long residential camp for families seeking an uplifting summer experience!

Explore, discover, relax, and play with other spiritually-minded families in the joyful setting of Ananda Village in the Sierra Nevada foothills of California. Learn how to nourish your family’s innate spirituality through classes and activities, conducted by Ananda Living Wisdom School teachers and community residents. The Family Camp is one of our most popular programs, so reserve early in order to hold your space.

Our Staff

Erin Vinacco is a certified Education for Life (EFL) teacher and a long-time educator. She has worked with children and families for over 13 years through various non-profits, schools, and community organizations, most recently at the Living Wisdom School of Nevada City, CA. She currently lives and serves at Ananda Village. Erin is the Founding Director of Conscious Families, an EFL partner program that is finding new ways to share the teachings and offer support and inspiration to parents and families.

She is also de director of the Family Yoga Retreat

Rose Neal, has worked with children most of her life. After 18 years of working as a registered nurse, she changed careers to follow her dream of bringing spiritual principles into education and family life. In addition to nursing, she has a background in teaching both children and adults in community settings as well as running businesses related to health and healing. She has been with Living Wisdom School since 2007. Her three children, have been raised in spiritual community with the principles of Education of Life and all of them attended Living Wisdom Schools.



Lilavati Aguilar, is an enthusiastic and joyful teacher who loves to spend her days with children and their families in uplifting natural environments.  She received her B.A. in Liberal Arts as well as an M.S. in Education from California State University East Bay. She holds a California Teaching Credential from Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, CA. She has been teaching social studies, language arts, drama, art, and Spanish in the California middle schools for the past 20 years. Being an accredited meditation and yoga teacher she introduces students of all ages to these calming and inspiring techniques. After being trained by Nitai Deranja and Usha Dermond in the Education for Life methods she incorporated them into the public school classroom curriculum and has been documenting this experience on her blog:


Kamala Cheen Se,  is mother of 3 grown up children. Two of them, went to Living Wisdom Schools in Ananda Village.

Kamala completed Education for Life, Ananda Yoga Teacher and Yoga Therapy training. She is an excellent teacher and has great enthusiasm for helping families find balance in their lives. She will be teaching restorative yoga, and ideal way for parents and children, to find deep relaxation through yoga postures.


Our Facilities

The program will be offered at Ananda Village, situated in the Sierra Nevada foothills, just 25min from Nevada City/Grass Valley, California.

From San Francisco/Bay Area it’s about 3 to 4 hrs drive, depending on traffic. The closest airports are Sacramento (SFM) or Reno (RNO,) a 90min car ride.

We offer 800 acres of rolling hills, meadows, lakes, Joy-Symbol-Entrance clear-1and forests. It houses Ananda’s first spiritual intentional community, where over 200 people live and work together, since 1969.

(Watch Finding Happiness, a movie about who we are and what we do.) This is an ideal setting for the children and parents to experience what it is like to live in nature and in a spiritual community.  We have goats, cows, and chickens that children can visit.


This program is limited to 10 families, about 30 to 40 people, and fills very quickly.

It’s an all-inclusive week: lodging, food, outings and programs.

We offer mostly organic foods, healthy snacks for the children, fun, creative, and magnetic teachers, river outings, outdoor camping for older kids, and a fun program for the whole family, all these included in the price.

$750 per adult, $750 per child, for all inclusive week.

Please bring your own tent, sleeping bag, and whatever is needed to make your camping experience comfortable. You’ll have access to an adjoining bathhouse.



Cancellation Policy:

  • Cancellation made before May 1st are 100% refundable except for the  non-refundable deposit of $100
  • Cancellation and refunds requested after May 2nd and before June 15th, can be credited for a year toward next year’s program. Or a request can be made for the reimbursement of 3/4 of the program cost.
  • No refunds after June 15th
