Stay Overnight

Overnight visitors to Ananda Village can choose to stay at the Expanding Light or the Meditation Retreat. Banyan House (our school dorm) is also open during the summer, especially for families with children.

The Expanding Light, our community’s main retreat center, offers a wide variety of programs on practical spiritual living, as well as Personal Retreat for those who prefer a less structured stay. Hearty vegetarian meals and optional twice-daily sessions of yoga and meditation are included in your stay. Rates vary with your choice of housing and program.

Click here for more information on programs or accommodations or call the Expanding Light at (800) 346-5350 option 1, between 9am – 5pm PST, 7 days a week.

The Meditation Retreat, located on the original land on which Ananda Village was founded, is perfect for guests who prefer a more secluded stay. The quiet setting is especially supportive for those who wish to spend time on their own in reflection or inner renewal. More

Vegetarian meals can be reserved in advance and enjoyed in the retreat dining room, or book a cabin with a kitchen and prepare your own.

Click here for more information on accommodations and rates, or call the Meditation Retreat office at (530) 292-3024 between 9am – 5pm PST, Mon. – Sat.

For Families with Children

Banyan House (available during the summer, when school is not in session)
Though officially the dormitory for our junior and senior high school students, during the summer this facility is open to accommodate families with children, in addition to other guests. Purchase meals at the Expanding Light, the Meditation Retreat or the Market, or prepare your own in Banyan House’s kitchen. More

For rates and availability, please call the Village Reception Office at (530) 478-7500 x 7004 between 9am – 5pm PST Mon. – Fri., or e-mail.

The Meditation Retreat
The Ananda Meditation Retreat welcomes families. Due to larger, more spread out accommodations and wide open spaces for exploration and play, kids can be themselves while still respecting the needs of those in silence and seclusion. Cabins, the most spacious and self-contained housing option, can sleep anywhere from 4 to 6 or more, and have an indoor bathroom and kitchen.)

An adult family member or friend must remain with children while adults attend classes or other activities, or you must make childcare arrangements in advance of your stay. To explore childcare possibilities, please contact Sarah Brink from our Family Ministry.
