Meals and Lodging

Ananda Village offers a variety of options for guests who wish to dine or to stay overnight. We have a saying: “The guest is God.”; it is our joy and privilege to share our community with you.

Meals

Visitors can choose to enjoy delicious vegetarian meals at Master’s Market, The Expanding Light (our community’s main guest retreat), or at Ananda’s Meditation Retreat, located about 6 miles from our community’s main area.

Meals at the Expanding Light and the Meditation Retreat are served buffet style and enjoyed with the company of guests, staff and community residents. Please call ahead to make reservations. (The Expanding Light: (530) 478-7518 option 1; Meditation Retreat: (530) 292-3024).

Master’s Market and Deli does not require reservations, but food goes quickly, so it is recommended that you arrive at the start of serving time: 12:30 for lunch Mon. – Fri., and 6 pm for dinner on Tuesday.

The Meditation Retreat
Though located 6 miles up the road from Ananda Village’s main campus, the peaceful and uplifting environment make it well worth the trip. Accommodations range from cozy canvas bungalows (comfortable year-round), which share the men’s or women’s shower house for bath and toilet facilities, to spacious cabins with their own bathroom, kitchen and living room. Simple lodge rooms are also available, featuring separate bedrooms and a shared indoor bathroom. You can also bring your own RV year-round (no hookups), or your own tent in summer. (The Meditation Retreat also has a limited number of tents available, with camp cots and padding provided; do, however, bring your own bedding and towels.)

Helpful information: Meals are not included in the cost of your stay, but can be enjoyed for an additional cost. (Breakfast is $7; lunch and dinner are $8 each.
