Driving Directions and Maps
Ananda Village is located 90 minutes north of Sacramento, California and two hours southwest of Reno, Nevada. We are also less than an hour from Auburn, and only 30 minutes from Grass Valley.
Ananda Village Reception Center
Open 10am – 4pm Monday – Friday and located in the Village center, we are happy to share information about our community and what you can see and do while here. More
Guided Tour
A free guided tour, led by Village residents, is offered weekly each Saturday at 1:30pm, departing from our guest retreat, The Expanding Light. The tour includes a combination of walking and driving. It takes approximately 1 ½ – 2 hours. More
Meals
Visitors can enjoy meals at The Expanding Light Retreat (call 24 hours in advance to reserve), or at our community market and deli, Master’s Market. More
Guest Lodging
Visitors who wish to stay at Ananda Village are welcome to book a stay at one of our community’s guest facilities: The Expanding Light (our main retreat center), the Meditation Retreat (perfect for silence and seclusion), or Crystal Hermitage Guest House. More
Families with children are welcome at our retreat centers, especially during “family friendly weekends,” and can contact [email protected] for more information about visiting with children. During the summer, we also have a weeklong summer camp for families.
Groups (for weddings, family reunions, spiritual retreats, and business/staff retreats) are welcome to inquire about Gaia House. More
Crystal Hermitage Gardens
Crystal Hermitage Gardens and grounds (including the chapel, Crystal Hermitage Boutique, Shrine of the Masters Museum, and Swami Kriyananda’s final resting place) are the spiritual heart of Ananda Village.
Upper garden and chapel hours are 9am – dusk daily. Lower garden hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9am – 5pm. Shrine and Boutique hours are Wednesday – Friday, 1:30 – 4:30pm; Saturday and Sunday, 1:30 – 4pm. More
Gift Shops
The Expanding Light Boutique (open 9am – 5pm daily) carries books, music, meditation gear, a large selection of items for your altar, unique cards, apparel, jewelry, and more.
Crystal Hermitage Boutique (open 1:30 -4:30pm Wed. – Fri., and 1:30 – 4pm Sat. and Sun.) carries hand-crafted malas, photos of the Ananda masters, devotional statues for your altar and garden, wind chimes, stationery and cards, and more.
Master’s Market and Deli
Shop for groceries, or stay and enjoy a hot lunch (12:30pm Mon. – Fri.), breakfast sandwich, deli sandwich, Friday night pizza (served 5 – 7pm), or coffee and a treat. More
