“Lord, we offer up the little light that is in us into Thy blazing light of Infinity.”
-Swami Kriyananda, Festival of Light
Time: Purification Ceremony 10 – 10:45am;
Sunday Worship Service 11am – 12:30pm
Location: The Expanding Light Retreat Temple.
You are invited to join Ananda Village residents and guests for weekly Sunday Service, inspired by the meditation tradition of the East and the ancient teachings of mystical Christianity, with inspirational readings from both the Bible and the Bhagavad Gita. Service includes devotional chanting, prayer, affirmation, a brief meditation, an inspirational talk, and the Festival of Light, a ceremony which uses music and allegory to tell the story of the soul’s journey toward realization of our Oneness in God.
The Purification Ceremony includes two parts: an ancient traditional Vedic fire ceremony with the chanting of the Gayatri and Mahamritunjaya mantras, and the Purification Ceremony, where an individual’s silent prayer to God is supported by the presence and blessing from the minister, acting only as a reminder and representative of the presence of God within us.
Due to the inward nature of Sunday Service, we don’t recommend bringing young children who are not able to sit quietly.
